Introduction:

This is a pretty typical commercial campground in a good location for checking out St. Augustine.

Privacy Rating (how spacious and private do the sites feel):

3/5: Like most commercial RV parks, sites are lined up one next to another. The spacing between sites isn't terrible and the sites are angled, so that helps, but there isn't much in the way of vegetation to make the sites feel private. All in all, it's OK, but not great.

Location Rating (accessibility to points of interest or to major highways):

4/5: This is a good location for checking out St. Augustine. Right up the street from the campground is a large commercial area where you can find all your necessities. St. Augustine's historic district is about 15 or 20 minutes away, and Anastasia State Park and the beach are about 20 to 25 minutes away. All in all, the campground is in a very good location for checking out the area.

Site Quality and Big Rig Accessibility Rating (utilities and accessibility of campground hook ups):

4/5: Sites are a mix of gravel and dirt and level enough that we didn't need to use any blocks or anything. Roads are wide enough to get around, but some of the turns are a bit tight. Nothing overwhelming for a reasonably experienced driver.

Technology and Customer Service Rating (online resources, reservations, campground wifi, and staff):

5/5: We had to call for reservations, but it looks like they now offer online reservations, which is nice. I did email them before our visit to ask a question and they were responsive and helpful. They send you some check-in information a couple days prior to your arrival and check back with you after your visit to make sure you had a good stay. All in all, very good customer service.

Overall Value Rating (the overall value of the campground; was it overpriced for what it was?):

2/5: This place is expensive and getting more expensive by the day. From the time I booked the site to the time of our visit, they increased the prices (they honored the old price for us.) The location is good and St. Augustine itself is a great place to visit, but $56 per night before taxes for a parking space in a busy campground 15 or 20 minutes from the downtown area is a bit ridiculous.

Summary:

This is a standard commercial campground located about 15 or 20 minutes from the historic downtown area of St. Augustine. If not for its price, I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. Instead, I'd suggest trying as hard as you can to get into Anastasia State Park. If you can't get in there, this is a decent option, especially if you can get a weekly discount.

  1. We are heading to Florida from Gulf Shores on 2/2/21, should be in St. Augustine a week after for a monthly stay. Appreciate your campground reviews as we are selecting one soon. – Mark
