Introduction:

This place is wildly overpriced for what it is, but given the dearth of camping options in town, it's probably your best bet for Bend.

The Basics:

Overall Rating: 3.6/5

Price per night / Discounts: $61.62 / None

Campground website: Scandia RV Park

Our Site #: 329

Privacy Rating (how spacious and private do the sites feel):

2.5/5: Sites are inconsistent here. We didn't have a ton of space between our RV and our neighbors, but we saw some other sites that were more spacious. Additionally, the tall trees that grow throughout the park helped provide a sense of separation for a lot of the sites. Some spots are definitely better than others, though none are great from a privacy standpoint.

Location Rating (accessibility to points of interest or to major highways):

4/5: This park is located right in the city of Bend. It takes about 10 minutes to drive downtown and about 40 to get to Tumalo Falls. The campground is on a busy street, but all of your conveniences will be close by. Overall, it's a good location for a city campground.

Site Quality and Big Rig Accessibility Rating (utilities and accessibility of campground hook ups):

3.5/5: Our site was slanted at the front but level at the back, so we were able to push back far enough to get level without the need for blocks. I don't expect all of the sites would be as workable for a big rig. Some of the loops are tight and we encountered some pretty lumpy roads near our site - the result of tree roots damaging the pavement.

Technology and Customer Service Rating (online resources, reservations, and staff):

4/5: You have to call for reservations, but we were very happy with the customer service we received. I actually screwed up when I made the reservation and thought we were coming in a day earlier than what I had actually reserved. That meant the lady at the front desk had to move people around to accommodate us. She was very helpful and friendly and we appreciated her willingness to find a way to help us out.

Internet Availability Rating (Verizon coverage or campground wifi):

4/5: Our AT&T hotspot worked well. I am not sure if we even tried to use the wifi....

Summary:

This campground is very tight in places and the sites are inconsistent, but we appreciated all the tall trees that can be found throughout, and we appreciated the friendly and helpful customer service we received when we ran into a problem with our reservation. Overall, this is a good location for exploring Bend. It is still ridiculously overpriced, but they can apparently get away with the costs because there are so few alternative options.
