The Basics:

Overall Rating: 4.3/5

Price per night / Discounts: $51 / Weekly discount, Good Sam

Campground website: American RV Resort

Our Site #: 217

Privacy Rating (how spacious and private do the sites feel):

3/5: Like most commercial parks, RV spots are lined up one next to another, but they are set off at an angle from the main roads and there is decent site separation. The older section has more mature trees, so that adds a bit of privacy, but the newer sections offers very large spaces. We were there when it was very quiet which certainly helped, but even when more RVs did pull in, the front office did a good job of keeping folks separated.

Location Rating (accessibility to points of interest or to major highways):

4.5/5: The campground is located right off Interstate 40 and right on the outskirts of the city itself. It took us 10 to 20 minutes to get most of the places we wanted to go. Overall, it was an excellent location.

Site Quality and Big Rig Accessibility Rating (utilities and accessibility of campground hook ups):

5/5: Site quality and accessibility were both excellent. We were in the new big rig section in the back which meant we were on a huge level concrete pad with well placed utilities. The roads were wide and easily accessible. The older section was also easily accessible and well laid out. You really can't go wrong in this park.

Technology and Customer Service Rating (online resources, reservations, and staff):

4/5: They do take online reservations which is helpful. I will, however, deduct a point because their cancellation policy is pretty harsh. If you cancel more than 7 days out, they'll give you a credit for the following year. Within 7 days, you lose your deposit entirely along with a $50 charge. That was excessive to us. On the other hand, we had a really good customer service experience here. When I went to extend our reservations I asked the person working at the front desk about one of the discounts - I think whether the rate would be pro-rated because we were there more than a week - and she input every discount she could find to save us money - which substantially brought our overall costs down. We very much appreciated her willingness to find ways to bring our overall costs down.

Internet Availability Rating (Verizon coverage or campground wifi):

5/5: Campground wifi was strong and reliable. AT&T hotspot worked well.

Summary:

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at this RV park. It is located right off I-40, on the outskirts of Albuquerque, so we were able to quickly and easily get downtown anytime we wanted. The park is gated and secured, very clean, well maintained, and well lit at night. While there is some highway noise, it wasn't enough to bother us. The new big rig section is very nice with large, level pads and plenty of space between rigs. The older section was also quite nice, with grass and trees dividing the campsites. Customer service was friendly and we had a great experience with one employee who entered multiple discounts to help us save money on what would otherwise be a very pricey campground. The one big negative for us was their cancellation policy. We thought it was unnecessarily inflexible and harsh.
